The Bromley book

It's here! I ordered 10 copies in paperback of my Bromley book from Blurb, and they arrived yesterday. There's no 12" version of this book - just the 7" one.

Bromley Arts Festival

I'm really thrilled to be able to say that I will be at the Bromley Arts Festival, with my Bromley Project, and that we will be occupying the pop-up art gallery!

Traffic Warden with Compass

Another CMYK acrylic knife painting. The cars were enormously tricky, and I did omit some of the street furniture to avoid clutter. Look carefully, and you might spot the building featured in "Looking Up".

Time is running out for the Bromley project - I need to get my book done and printed (and delivered) for the 24th of March. Because that's when I - and my Bromley project - will be at the Bromley Arts Festival!

Varnishing

Varnish protects the surface of a painting from dust and other airborne pollutants. When paint dries, small pores open up in the surface to let the solvent escape; these pores make the surface vulnerable, and that is why a coat of varnish is required after the painting has dried completely.

Looking Up

A random bit of architecture with a fire escape. And a dramatic sky. It sometimes pays to look up.

My First Solo Exhibition: Some Installation Views

There are a lot of my paintings at Tadley library. My young assistants and I finished putting them up this morning. There are 4 or 5 paintings up that you can't see in the photographs above, and I brought two paintings back home again. One of them might get entered in a competition; the other didn't meet my exacting standards. And I'd filled up the available space.

Solo Exhibition

I'm going back to Tadley library tomorrow morning; it takes quite a while to hang your own exhibition above a bunch of bookshelves (I think I'll be moving some picture hooks around tomorrow). But this is the publicity postcard that I got printed (10 free) by Vistaprint. I'm using Skyline 2 as my headline image; it's a strongly graphic painting and it looks well in its dark brown driftwood frame. At the library.

If you're in the area, do drop in.
