Four-Pastel Sketches

It rained for most of today, but the evening was delightful. My generous husband suggested I get out on the hills for an hour or so after tea; how could I refuse?

Sunset Road - SOLD

I'm really pleased with the way that this turned out. It's based on a photograph from last summer, when I stopped my homeward journey to admire - and photograph - the wonderful sunset.

Revamp

Primrose Panel

"The primroses were over."

So begins the best known book about Watership Down. Possibly the only book about it.

And this is the first floral panel of the Kingsclere School Mural. The floral panels are beneath the windows and my idea was to use wild flowers to add bright colours: yellow, blue, red and white. Yellow was originally gong to be buttercups, but when I thought of primroses and realised that they were part of the novel, I changed my mind.

The weather is - all of a sudden, it seems - warm and sunny and highly conducive to outdoor mural painting.

Windsurf - SOLD

When we were in Cornwall over the New Year, I visited Gwithian (from which Godrevy Light can be seen), and took lots and lots of photographs. There was a windsurfer - a very skillful fellow - out on the sea and I managed to get a few shots of him in action.

Sunsetting (over Penlee Point)

The sun was setting when we were at Long Rock in December 2013. This is an interpretation of one of my photographs looking towards Penlee Point (near Mousehole).

Godrevy Storm

I was standing near the foot of the steps that lead down from the lifeguard hut at Gwithian (St Ives Bay, Cornwall), looking towards Godrevy Light, when I took the source photographs for this painting. It was December 2013, and the waves were impressive, but not as high as they were to become in the New Year.
