Sketchbook Exchange 2016 (part 4: Smooth)

I was delighted that a friend was able to fix the nib of this pen. It now writes (and draws) smoothly...

Acrylics applied with a knife. Smooth blades to keep Judge Dredd's chin stubble-free...

Banana from life.
Blender from Leeds (via a sketch I made on a weekend visit to my friend there)
Rest of the fruit from memory.
Glass of smoothie from imagination.

All drawn in Molotow markers, with indigo-fountain-pen-ink curvy lines

The Red Trees

These imaginary trees have been hanging around for a while. The painting has changed a bit since I started it in August...

It was always intended to be bright and stylised, but I softened it a bit and made it less rigidly perpendicular.

Shelves of Inspiration

Acrylic on wooden panel, 40 x 40 cm

INSPIRATION comes in many forms, in many places, in many things.

These are my shelves of inspiration.

My friends are here - in my address book.
My family are here - in my heart.
My art is here.
My life is here.

Inspired by nature. Inspired by art. Inspired by words that come from the heart.
Inspired by living. Inspired by love. Inspired by beauty and joy in discovery.

There is a house...

... in New Orleans.

I think you may have heard of it.

Picture This - the pictures

Last October, this happened - but I didn't show you any pictures. So, here they are... along with the relevant bits of my cringeworthy parody lyrics.

All I want is red, yellow and blue
A sight worth seeing, a vision of New(bury)
From atop a car park with a view, oh-oh
Town hall clock, chiming the hour
Sterling cables, the telecom tower
Corn Exchange, chimneys and roofs, oh yeah

and

Picture this... a day in October
Picture this... reasonable weather
Artists in town, wielding cameras and canvas
Is that someone painting the garage?
If you could only oh-oh
Picture this... with acrylic and knife
Picture this... a Victorian gas works
