Study in Yellow

A drawing, today. I'm thinking of entering this in the Campaign for Drawing's John Ruskin Prize (the theme is "A New Look at Nature"). The deadline isn't far away, though - all entries must be submitted by 5pm on the 1st of June! Fortunately, in the first instance, they want digital images. So I might even have time to do a second image...

This is based on two photographs of the oilseed rape fields on the downs. I liked the tree on the horizon and the echoing shape  of the tall foreground plant. It's drawn on yellow paper using Derwent Soft Drawing Pencils - these are a waxy type of pencil that come in a selection of neutral shades (black, white, and four shades of brown). There's no blue - but the sky looks vaguely blue, doesn't it? That's the effect of the white (Chinese White) over the black (Ivory Black). I daresay that the contrast with the yellow helps, too.
Do tell me what you think. I'm not sure how "new" my look is - apart from the emphasis on yellow being a little unusual, perhaps. I'm still trying to think of alternative ideas...
