Artikinesis and the Basingstoke Project

Artikinesis is a new artist's collective. Our new collective.


We started it for many reasons, but the practical ones all boil down to the same thing - it's easier and cheaper to promote a group's work than it is to work in a vacuum.

Our local area is a fair way from the larger centres of population and the accompanying opportunities for artists. Of the two nearest towns, Newbury has a pretty good visual arts infrastructure, largely based on the West Berkshire and North Hampshire Open Studios Scheme, and Basingstoke ... doesn't.

Which is why we decided to challenge ourselves by embarking on a Basingstoke Project.

This is my first finished piece for the project.
