This figure marks something of a variation from my usual practice; there was no Brownie top in front of me. I put it together in my head from a variety of sources.

Fridge Wellies

This post is not about a painting. It's about a fridge magnet.

I've got a few small magnets (that I got printed for free by Vistaprint) that show my painting Green Wellies (In My Shoes). It was painted - and sold - for charity (Parkinson's UK). So, the magnets are also for sale, for the same charity, except they are a bit cheaper. And they stick to your fridge.

The eBay listing has finished but I still have a few left - contact me if you want one: £1 (which I will donate to Parkinson's UK) plus shipping at cost.

Another special occasion. I hope that I have given my musical friend and her fiance enough time to discover what was in the slightly weighty envelope I gave them at their engagement party last night...

This was painted as a gift for a friend on the birth of her first child. It had to go all the way to Australia, hence the delay in the electronic posting.

LEGO Minifigures 66: Lady Pirate

My daughter is doing a school project on pirates this term, so it seemed like a good time to paint this particular figure. Avast and a-ha, me hearties.

"In My Shoes": Impromptu Foootwear Triptych

There are two things that wellies have every right to be: green, and muddy. These fit the bill.

(They don't, however, fit me. They belong to my son, who has yet to catch up with me in foot size. And his name is not Bill, as it happens.)

Cowboy Boots - SOLD

They may not be the most authentic cowboy boots, but they are the only ones I own. They are also possibly the most paintable item of footwear I own, in keeping with the theme, "In My Shoes".

LEGO Minifigures 64: Return of the Roman Soldier

My first 'stab' at this Roman soldier was a popular post, and the little painting has been sold. So when I was asked about it, I offered to paint the little fellow again. 

I rather think that he's come across some disgruntled Batvian or Frank. He looks a bit worried.

What have the Romans ever done for us, eh?

P.S. I have just realised that the first Roman Soldier was number 32, which is half of 64. That's a neat coincidence.

The Royal Academy: no queues at lunchtime

This is the front of the Royal Academy of Art in London, on Picadilly (which I still think is a strange name for a road). Artists delivering work for possible inclusion in the Summer Exhibition go to the back, two streets away.

So I'm not all that sure what these people were filming:

London was, as usual, busy. But the RA wasn't very. Apparently there had been long queues of hopeful artists in the morning, but by the time I arrived, the queues had gone. I went straight in, removed the cardboard and pipe lagging protecting my painting (using a pair of borrowed scissors), handed the painting to the helpful staff, and left, exchanging a few words with another artist who left at the same time.

Then I went to the Science Museum, to meet up with the rest of my family.

Avebury Sheep - framed and due to go to London

Avebury Sheep has a frame (a lovely deep rebate oak number from Moonshine) and will be visiting London with me tomorrow, where I will abandon it to the tender mercies of the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition judging panel.
