After discovering the effectiveness of my "secondary"palette, I decided to reapply it. The subject was a largely monochromatic one (a bit like a portrait): my sturdy leather walking boots (which were made by Scarpa, and have been in my possession since January 1993).
After that, it was a small step to thinking about comparing the secondary palette with a primary one... but which set of primaries? It was no good. I needed to do
two primary paintings.

Secondary Scarpas
Cadium Orange, Sap Green, Deep Indigo,
(Buff Titanium) | |
|
|
Warm Primary Scarpas
Cadmium Red. Cadmium Yellow, Ultramarine,
(Titanium White) |
|
|
Cool Primary Scarpas
Process Magenta, Lemon Yellow, Phthalo Blue,
(Titanium White) |
All three studies were done, with a 1 cm brush, in System 3 acrylic on bits of the sort of cardboard that you get backing a pad of paper. Given the latter, you'll be unsurprised to know that the above paintings are all roughly A4...
