Wolverton Blue

The plein air season has begun! And what better way to mark it than with a bluebell wood. This one is Brock Copse near Wolverton.

I didn't quite walk all the way there - to save time, I pedalled part of the distance...

... and locked the bike to the top of the steps down to the main road.

Here is an animated gif of the painting in progress:

(There are two photographs of the finished painting in there - one taken in the wood, one at home.)

And here is a photograph of the finished painting just before I packed up and dashed off for the school run.

Wolverton Blue
Oil on canvas, 46 x 38 cm
£250

Review (as part of Artikinesis Springtime Exhibition, April 2017):
Particularly pleasing is Wolverton Blue, where conventional and archetypally English subject matter [...] is lifted above the ordinary by its sure handing and colour balance.
