Big LEGO Robin Hood

LITHE and listen, Gentlemen,
That be of free-born blood:
I shall you tell of a good yeoman,
His name was Robin Hood.

So begins the earliest surviving ballad concerning the proud outlaw who shall forever be associated with Sherwood Forest (A Little Geste of Robin Hood and his Meiny).

Once upon a time - nearly three years ago - I painted a small version of this minifigure. This is a much larger commission, brush-painted on a 50 cm square box canvas. The edges are painted Lincoln Green (well, a mixture of Phthalo Green and Lemon Yellow).

Lego Minifigures: 13 Doctors (Baker's Dozen)

Do you remember the dozen doctors?

When I was asked to revisit the subject, the thirteenth doctor's costume had been revealed, and so here they all are, to date - another commissioned birthday present - in order of appearance.

13 is known as "a baker's dozen" because, traditionally, a baker would add a small loaf known as an "inbread" when selling in bulk to avoid being penalised for selling underweight.

And, of course, Tom Baker is one of the actors (possibly the longest serving actor) who has played Dr. Who. He is certainly the doctor that I remember best. The minifigure representing him is right in front of the TARDIS with K9, which was his robotic dog.

I don't know what the proper name is for this native American, but there seems to be a certain buffaloness about him, and he certainly has the trappings of a warrior.

LEGO Minifigures: A dozen Doctors

This was a commission for a birthday present. The birthday is today, and so I can unveil the dozen doctors (not forgetting the TARDIS and K9, both of which I attempted to build to scale from available bricks*). I would have included the 13th doctor, but his costume was unveiled too late.

There was a fair bit of chopping and changing of parts, a couple of paper overcoats (modelled on a Jedi cloak), a scarf made out of a ribbon, and some complete fabrication of colour and printed LEGO torsos.
