Downland beech - SOLD

Another monochrome beech tree, albeit with a CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) sky. It makes it look rather cartoonish, I think - or is that the "googly" face that I keep seeing in its trunk?

This tree is part of a grown-out hedgerow on the ridge of one of our local downs.

This was a commission; it was good to get a scene that I have made images of twice before finally down on canvas.

Unusually for me, this piece came almost entirely from imagination. It's not that I don't imagine stuff much - it's more that there are so many real things that I want to paint!

"In My Shoes": Impromptu Foootwear Triptych

Green Wellies

There are two things that wellies have every right to be: green, and muddy. These fit the bill.

(They don't, however, fit me. They belong to my son, who has yet to catch up with me in foot size. And his name is not Bill, as it happens.)

Cowboy Boots - SOLD

They may not be the most authentic cowboy boots, but they are the only ones I own. They are also possibly the most paintable item of footwear I own, in keeping with the theme, "In My Shoes".

Primary Pair - SOLD

This isn't a "standard" minifigure painting. It's a bit bigger, for a start. Nearly 6 times bigger. And of course there are two figures. It was also painted (partly) with a knife, and I restricted myself to the CMYK + white palette that I have adopted recently for acrylic knife-work.

Cottington's Thistle

Of course, this isn't a variety of thistle called Cottington's - the name refers both to the hill (with the radio mast atop it; a local landmark) and to my previous paintings of poppies in a similar location.
