So, I finally got around to making my "Autumn Soup" (it's still bubbling in the pan; I can't tell you what it tastes like yet).
But when it came to hacking the pumpkin in half, it seemed a shame not to draw it... then I thought about the paint still on my palette after finishing The Beeches, and the fact that there was a bit of yellow and a bit of red (rose madder) remaining, and it suddenly seemed a shame not to paint it.
I fished a 20 x 20 cm board out of the box where I keep the smaller blank canvases (it was the only board that size), and set to. Quickly.
The stringy bits inside (do they have a name?) would have taken ages to draw properly, and the knife wasn't the tool for portraying them, so I went with suggestion instead.
Oil on canvas,
20 x 20 cm
