Cherry Pop

If these fruit look familiar, it may be that you recognise them from my small painting, "Tailor".
Of course, I ate those cherries as soon as I finished painting them the first time, so this is based on my previous painting. It is scaled up a bit - from 7 x 7 cm to 30 x 30 cm - and it's also rather brighter.

I wanted to create a sort of posterised effect. I even used software to posterise the photograph of my first painting as an aide. It's quite a departure in terms of style, for me, but it seems to have worked. If I do it again, I might try without the computer assistance.

  1. I like this one the best it seems to have more punch and keep on using the PC for your art work

    1. Thank you, Phil.

As to using the PC ... well, it's a tool, but I don't want to rely on it. When you learnt how to use an SLR, did you go straight to using a fully automated mode (if there was one) or did you make your own decisions on focal length, shutter speed, etc?

Tell me what you think!
