Fleabane
There's been quite a lot of craft and not enough art in these parts of late, so here is an old painting of some weeds that took my fancy back in 1998.
The yellow flowers turned up in our garden and I looked them up in a book; I liked them even more for their name, because our house had come complete with free fleas in the carpets (dealt with by the time I painted this, but an unpleasant memory nonetheless). I added a large daisy (also from the garden) for a bit of variety.
The black background was painted and left to dry before adding the flowers; the paper itself is cartridge paper that was stretched on a board.
Acrylic on paper.

The eagle-eyed among you might notice that the initials are not my usual cursive "AJB". This was before I was married; my initials then were "AJW".
